Forget everything you were told about cover letters. The formula that gets interviews is short, specific, and follows a proven structure.
Recruiters spend 15 seconds on a cover letter. A wall of text loses. A tight, structured one wins.
Paragraph 1 - The Hook (2–3 sentences)
Name the role, name the company, and lead with your strongest role-relevant credential. No "I am writing to express my interest".
"I led the checkout redesign at Acme that lifted conversion 22% - the exact problem your PDP team is now hiring for."
Paragraph 2 - The Proof (3–4 sentences)
Two concrete results that map directly to the JD's top requirements. Numbers over adjectives.
Paragraph 3 - The Fit & Close (2–3 sentences)
Why this company specifically, and a confident close. Skip "Please find my resume attached".
The 15-second scan test
Recruiters should get: role, one impressive number, one reason you're the fit, one reason you want them. If a bullet-scan of your letter doesn't surface all four, rewrite.
